May Bank Holiday Dancing at Dalton Park
The whole school; children and adults, had welcomed in the summer with an outdoor assembly including Maypole Dancing, singing and a massive, 250 person Circassian Circle on Tuesday 1st May.
Celebrating ?May Day? for the second time at Dalton Park on Bank Holiday Monday gave the Heighington Folk Dance side their next public performance of 2007.
Better weather than last year?s rain and wind greeted us on arrival and a different adult Morris Dance too; Locos in Motion from Sadberge dancing in black and grey ?tatters? with plenty of vigorous stick work.

We were able to dance our first set, alternating with the adults and Christine and Claire?s clog dancing, in the main entry to the shopping mall and everything went very well with crowds to watch and lots of applause.
Next to McDonald?s for lunch which was hectic and crowded but very healthy! Good work here from Mrs Kirkley, Ms Wheelan, Mrs Goundry and Brenda Story to enable all our dancers to be fed and watered and toileted.
We changed venue for our second set as Locos feared for their high top hats in the increasingly strong wind. Once again I was delighted with the children?s performance and the Long Sword Dance with two sets dancing simultaneously was particularly enthusiastically received.
The visit ended with Heighington and Locos joining together for a charming stick dance and a warm invitation for our dance side to visit Sadberge on June 23 for their festival.
Before that our dancers move on to The Hex ham Gathering on Saturday 26th May.
Sincere thanks for transport and noisy support (as always)from parents, grand-parents and siblings.
