Candles Club

This information is to all parents who have children attending
Heighington CE Primary School.

15/02/08

On Monday evening of March 3rd Mr. Parker and I will be holding an open
evening starting at 6.15pm until approximately 7.00pm.  This is open to
all parents. This will give you the opportunity to find out what we do,
and to gather any information, which may be useful to you to help us
further develop our Candles Club.
For instance:
•        are you aware we now open at 7.30am and can provide breakfast?
•        are you aware we take older siblings up to 14 yrs old, who no longer
attend this school?

For the parents of children who already attend our club don’t miss this
opportunity to discuss with us any issues, interests or concerns you have,
also put forward any ideas and suggestions you may have of how you feel we
could further add affordable quality and interest, to our before and after
school club.
We feel the last meeting was very enlightening, although we would have
liked to see more parents there!
Everyone is welcome, this club is run for your children, and we value your
views as their parents.

During the last school year, and our first as “Candles Club” we introduced
and ran a “Holiday Club”
This has proven to be difficult, only as far as there was very little
interest and numbers extremely low.
Although, the children who did attend all enjoyed a wonderful time with
the variety of activities and outings provided, and, with their friends.
We have lowered the price from £25 a day to £15 a day for any time between
8am – 6pm. We have forwarded all the possible opening dates for the next
school year. We have opened it up to non-school children, and we have
advertised. Yet we still have low numbers. To help us develop this
facility by giving us the time to increase our regular client base, the
Federation Governors have agreed to let us open for all the advertised
dates until July 2008. For all parents who have booked or are wavering
about booking because of our inconsistency, we can categorically guarantee
that we will be open for the advertised dates. Please help us press our
case for the holiday club by making your bookings as early as possible.

A reminder to existing parents

Please remember, the school car park is for Staff cars only. You may want
to discuss this issue at the meeting!
The school gate on Redworth Road is now open from 7.30am. Although the car
park does not open until about 8.00am, there is safe on road parking just
beyond the bus stop.

Yours sincerely

M.N. Parker and Mrs Jennifer Palmer.
